We go out of Oak Hill, River Breeze Park a lot and saw everyone going out when we came in around this time last year to go shrimping.

Can anyone give any secrets on when and what we need to do to make it fun for the family.

looked like a serious seasoned shrimper event, so don’t want to be the turd in the punchbowl.

Any outgoing tide can be the one with the motherload. The shrimp do run in sizes - if you buy shrimp at Indian Mound and they are running small that means the river shrimp are running small.

Find an edge of the current - you'll see crabs and bits of weeds, etc. Shrimp have pink eyes.

Also - pay attention to the other folks. See who is dipping and where. Don't pull in front of them, but you can go behind them and off to one side or another if there is room and pick up scraps.

Not supposed to anchor in the channel but so many folks do. Be prepared to pull and move if a barge comes thru. And don't get pissy if you anchor in the channel and someone is traveling up the channel in their boat, especially if it is crowded.
